Updated: Apr 21

We are thrilled to announce that the Baltimore Area Sports Health Initiative, in collaboration

with Baltimore City Schools, has been awarded the prestigious Korey Stringer Institute Innovate Grant. This grant, totaling $180,000, is a testament to our dedication to advancing sports health and safety measures in our community.

The Korey Stringer Institute, named after the late NFL player Korey Stringer who tragically

passed away from complications related to heatstroke during training camp in 2001, is renowned for its commitment to preventing sudden death in sport and promoting athlete safety.

“This grant will enable our initiative to implement innovative programs and initiatives aimed at safeguarding the health and well-being of student-athletes throughout Baltimore City Schools.” said BASH Executive Director Collin Francis.” We look forward to leveraging this funding to enhance education, resources, and protocols surrounding sports-related injuries and conditions.”
